OF NOTE:

Effective September 23, 2009 new regulations require all physicians who are covered by HIPAA to notify patients if there are breaches of security involving their medical information. Read AMA's What You Need to Know About the New HIPAA Breach Notification Rule for a summary of these new requirements.

Red Flags Rule Compliance Deadline delayed until December 31, 2010. This rule requires creditors to institute policies to identify, detect and respond to potential risks of identity theft. Visit AMA's Practice Management Center and FTC’s Red Flags for additional information. [posted 6.7.2010]
