HIV Education (Professional)

The AIDS Education Project, through funds from the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Mental Health Services, has provided training and education to over 30,000 psychiatrists and other mental health professionals since 1986.  The Office of HIV Psychiatry coordinates training on the spectrum of clinical, neuropsychiatric, and psychosocial aspects of HIV disease and AIDS.  Available services include:

·         Trainings provided upon request at the local, regional, and national level Trainings tailored to meet the specific needs/interests of individual audiences and medical professionals;   

·         Linkages with a national faculty of regional trainers committed to providing HIV/AIDS training to health and mental health care professionals across the country;

·         Distance learning platforms for teaching clinicians in remote and underserved areas of the country; 

·         A minority medical student senior elective providing an intense training in HIV neuropsychiatry as well as a clinical and/or research experience;

·         HIV-related neuropsychiatric training curricula for both the MD and non-MD mental health professional
