On June 3, 2013, following the National Conference on Mental Health at the White House, APA hosted a press conference at the National Press Club to discuss some of the pressing issues in mental health care. Participating in the press conference were Jeffrey Lieberman, M.D., APA president; Paul Summergrad, M.D., APA president-elect; Jeffrey Borenstein, M.D., editor-in-chief of Psychiatric News and president and CEO of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation; former member of Congress Patrick Kennedy, a senior strategic advisor for APA; and James H.
