SET for Success

The Supplemental Education and Training (SET) program is an online experience designed to help trainees build knowledge around the core competencies of psychiatry through the APA Learning Center. SET includes free access to more than 60 courses on a range of topics, including:

Coping with Patient Suicide as a Trainee

Having a patient die by suicide is one of the most difficult events to deal with during a psychiatrist’s career, but is especially hard for trainees. It is common for trainees to blame themselves and to experience a myriad of emotions in response. This information is intended to provide support and understanding in order to learn from the experience of patient suicide and grow as a psychiatrist.
