Biography

Tariq Abdallah Salem is a second-year resident physician at the University of Colorado-Anschutz residency. Dr. Salem is passionate about community-based interventions related to equitable and accessible psychiatric care. Dr. Salem is active in research with the American Heart Association’s Empowered to Serve Program, which actively collaborates with community leaders to provide video-based interventions and customized care to those with substance use disorders. Additionally, Dr. Salem is involved in research related to the impact of mandated reporting on perinatal mental health outcomes for both mothers and their children.

He is an avid gardener and chef, working closely with the Denver Urban Gardens system to usher in green spaces and initiatives for youth. He additionally works on a resident-run newsletter titled 'The Synapse' which is provided to all residents monthly, with editorials ranging from psychoeducation to culture and community events.

Dr. Salem is a member of the Colorado Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Society and works closely with the Diversity and Equity division to improve inclusion efforts for patients and mental health professionals within the state of Colorado. In his free time, Dr. Salem enjoys gravel-biking, skateboarding, and cooking alongside local chefs.
