Established in 1957, this lectureship series at the Annual Meeting is intended to advance psychiatric research by enabling psychiatrists to hear from leading scientists and to exchange new research information with outstanding colleagues. The awardee is nationally or internationally recognized as a leading scientist in an area of psychiatric research. The accompanying Adolf Meyer Award Lecture advances psychiatric research by enabling psychiatrists and other conference attendees to hear and interact with outstanding research scientists.

Criteria / Eligibility
Nominees for this award must be researchers in the U.S. and abroad with an exemplary record of research in psychiatry and may be APA members or non-members.
Selection Criteria
The APA President will select the award recipient using the above criteria. The final selection will be forwarded to the Joint Reference Committee and the APA Board of Trustees for final approval.
Nomination / Application Details
- An open call for nominations will be published in APA communications.
- Self-nominations and nominations by a colleague are accepted.
- Nominations must include the following information:
- Cover sheet to include:
- Nominee Name, Email, Preferred contact number.
- Nominator Name, Email, Preferred contact number (if not a self-nomination).
- Abbreviated CV (maximum five pages) that includes history of research publications and research awards.
- Maximum two-page narrative, demonstrating how the nominee exemplifies the selection criteria.
- Cover sheet to include:
Deadline
August 2 of each year. Submissions will not be considered if they are incomplete or submitted after the deadline.
Notification
Award recipients are notified no later than January 31.
Award Presentation
The award is presented during a lecture at the APA Annual Meeting.
