In the early 21st century, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) emphasized the role of social determinants of health. This was a welcomed development for improving the health and healthcare of patients, however, mental illness and mental healthcare have not been a priority in these conceptualizations. As psychiatrists, we now have an opportunity to rethink Social Determinants of Mental Health (SDoMH) as they apply to our patients.
Join us for a town hall series featuring presentations on the importance of SDoMH in psychiatry, the efforts of the APA Presidential Task Force on SDoMH, and the opportunity to engage with Task Force members.

- 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. ET
The Clinical Workgroup is focused on what clinicians should do to assess and treat SDoMH in their everyday practice. The Research and Education Workgroup is focused on identifying what kind of research and training are needed to make knowledge of SDoMH widespread.
