    Agnes Purcell McGavin Award for Distinguished Career Achievement in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

    The Agnes Purcell McGavin Award for Distinguished Career Achievement, established in 2000, is presented to a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has been noted for outstanding contributions to the advancement of child and adolescent psychiatry in activities such as teaching, research, writing, clinical care, advocacy, and policy. Funded by a bequest from Dr. Agnes Purcell McGavin.

    Criteria / Eligibility

    Candidates for the award must be a child/adolescent psychiatrist. Previous winners of the McGavin Award for Prevention are eligible for this award.

    Members of the McGavin Award Selection Committee are ineligible for five years beginning with their first year on the committee.

    Selection Criteria

    The Chair of the Council on Children, Adolescents and Their Families convenes a selection committee to review nominees.

    Nomination / Application Details

    • Nominations can be submitted at apply.psychiatry.org
    • An open call for nominations will be published in APA communications.
    • Nominations must include the following information:
      • A Letter of Recommendation.
      • The nominee’s current CV.
      • Can only come from an APA member.

    Deadline

    August 15

    Notification

    After the APAF Board of Directors confirms the awardees, typically in November.
