The Committee on Climate Change and Mental Health engages APA leadership, administration, members, and allied groups to fulfill APA’s position on and commitment to Mental Health and Climate Change. The Committee’s focus is to facilitate effective advocacy and address the disproportionate impact of climate change on two main demographic groups: persons with serious mental illness, poor, and minority communities.

Term

Three years; volunteer leaders will be eligible for reappointment for an additional three year term at the conclusion of their first term.

Expected Time Commitment

The Committee meets every month via Zoom for two hours as regular monthly meeting. Committee members also meet in person during the Annual Meeting.

Desired Expertise

Knowledge about climate change, and familiar with APA structure to reach out to different components for collaboration.

Responsibilities

Members are expected to attend meetings virtually and participate actively in the work of the Committee. This includes responding to requests, reviewing materials and contributing to action papers and position statements, different colloquium materials, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
