The Innovation Committee coordinates the Mental Health Innovation Zone (MHIZ) at the APA Annual Meeting. MHIZ consists of 10-12 discussion panels on innovation in psychiatry led by experts in the industry. It also features the Psychiatry Innovation Lab (PIL), APA's shark-tank like competition, where aspiring entrepreneurs present their business ideas to a panel of expert psychiatrists, seeking funding (cash prize) and the chance to win a trophy.

Expected Time Commitment
The Committee meets twice a month. Volunteers would spend between two to five hours a month supporting the Committee's initiatives.
Desired Expertise
The Committee is seeking two to three volunteers with experience in social media to promote MHIZ and PIL, and update the language on our webpages; as well as someone with administrative and communication skills to help manage the invitations sent to speakers.
Responsibilities
- Create social media posts to attract speakers and attendees to MHIZ.
- Draft speaker invitations and track responses to invitations.
- Help configure the schedule and availability of confirmed speakers for panels.
