Committee on Well-Being and Burnout

The Committee on Well-Being and Burnout will work through APA administration, and with Councils, Committees and other experts where needed. The Committee will coordinate its efforts with the work of allied organizations, including AMA, AAMC, ACGME and NAM, in addressing this problem.

Term

Three years; volunteer leaders will be eligible for reappointment for an additional three year term at the conclusion of their first term.

Expected Time Commitment

The Committee meets once a month for one hour. Depending on the project they are working on, smaller subcommittees are formed and meet bi-weekly.

Desired Expertise

The ideal volunteer for this Committee should have expertise and interest in clinician well-being and burnout prevention. People who have experience with wellness initiatives and research for care providers in mental health will be strong contributors to the Committee.

Responsibilities

Committee members are expected to attend virtual meetings, offer support on subcommittees, provide feedback and guidance on the initiative, share insights from their trainings and research, and promote Committee initiatives to generate awareness.
