Washington, D.C. – Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq., Executive Director of the American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF), will be honored with the President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service in January 2023.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award is presented on behalf of Points of Light, AmeriCorps, and the 46th President of the United States, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and Vice President Kamala Harris to individuals across the country whose service positively impacts their home communities and inspires others around them to take positive action as well.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is distinct from other iterations of the President’s Volunteer Service Award in that it requires a minimum of 4,000 hours of volunteer service for a recipient to be eligible.

“It is an honor to be counted among the trailblazers and pioneers who have been selected to receive this award,” said Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq., APAF Executive Director. “The greatest reward of doing good is always seeing its positive impact on the lives of others in the community—together we truly lift one another up. That is why service is, and will remain, a huge part of my life and our work across the APA family.”

Along with his leadership of APAF, Andrews is also president of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia and is active in the DC Bar Association, a board member of the Thurgood Marshall Center Trust, an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and the Howard University School of Law, and chair of the public policy committee of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The Reverend Dr. George E. Holmes, himself a two-time recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the award presentation ceremony for awardees from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region on Friday, January 13th at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.
