Substance use disorders are the most stigmatized disorders within psychiatry and medicine at large and healthcare providers generally have negative attitudes towards people with substance use disorders. The language used to describe people who use substances has the power to promote or combat addiction stigma. This webinar will review stigma related to addiction terminology and provide tangible ways clinicians can reframe their mindset and use nonjudgmental clinically accurate terminology which will in turn help to decrease stigma and promote equitable care for patients.
